SOUNDS OF NYC

AN ARCHIVE OF THE LISTENING HABITS OF NATIVE NEW YORKERS

With the loom of gentrification in the city, the sense of multiculturalism that has always made NYC unique is slowly being lost. An effect of this is the loss of the rich music history and communities formed within the enclaves of our individual boroughs through phenomenon such as displacement, rampant consumerism, and digital gentrification. Through surveying, a database of the listening habits and music tastes of individuals is stored and organized into personalized collections unique to each neighborhood.
